Unfinished business on TNF

Unfinished business on TNF

What’s better than a player taking on his former team… four of them. In the same game. Two of them are the starting quarterbacks & the other two are offensive weapons that these QBs rely on… Adrian Peterson & Josh Doctson.

Kirk Cousins is set to take on his former Redskin squad for the first time since departing Washington after the 2017 season to sign a historical (at the time) 3-Year, $84M deal fully guaranteed deal with the Vikings. Since then Washington though they had found their long-term answer in QB, Alex Smith… unfortunately his 6-3 start came to an abrupt end in Week 11, 2018. Smith had suffered a compound spinal fracture to his tibia & fibula. He not only missed the rest of the season, however, went on to be ruled out for the entire 2019 season as well.

Moving on…

Washington had to move on without Alex Smith in 2019. This led them to execute a trade with the Denver Broncos for QB, Case Keenum. In 2017, after replacing an injured Sam Bradford, Keenum led the Vikings to a 13-3 record that included one of the greatest plays in NFL history. The “Minneapolis Miracle”. With 10 seconds left at their own 39-yard line… a 61-yard TD stunned the New Orleans Saints in the divisional round as the Vikings advanced to the NFC Championship game against the Eagles. Keenum went on to take on former teammate, Nick Foles in what would end in Foles leading Philly to the promise land as Keenum was set to become a free agent.

Minnesota moved on from Keenum in one season & has not looked back since. In fact, Keenum has a record of 7-16 as a starter (including playoffs) since the "“Minneapolis Miracle” Cousins in his second season with the Vikings started off slow, however he has looked like an elite signal-caller off late. Here’s a breakdown of his stats this season.

Kirk Cousins 2019 Stats

Cousins has been lighting it up in the last 3 games & the Vikings offense in that span has AVG. 36 PPG (most in NFL). With the VIkings offense firing on all cylinders against a Redskins speak failing to have scored more than 7 points in three of their last four matchups, it’s pretty straight forward…

Game Pick

Expect a blowout in US Bank Stadium as Minnesota should cruise their way to victory with ease. Dalvin Cook in their backfield gives this offense a two-dimensional look. Expect the Vikings to rely heavily on the run game as Kirk Cousins will be without his top pass-catcher tonight in Adam Thielen. Interestingly enough, Dalvin Cook leads the league in rushing… the last Vikings player to do that? Redskins running back, Adrian Peterson. Here’s to sweet revenge in cold Minnesota!
