Week 8 Game Picks

Week 8 Game Picks

BYE WEEK: Cowboys, Ravens

27 OCT 1 PM ET

Broncos @ Colts

The Colts are looking scary good. The Broncos… not so much. Indy has been off to a hot start & the Colts is not going to slow down at home this week. This is a lopsided matchup in favor of the Colts as it all comes down to quarterbacks. Colts’ Jacoby Brissett has 14 TDs through 6 games this season as Joe Flacco has failed to surpass 6 TDs! Colts improve to 5-2 as the Broncos drop to 2-6.

Score: 31-13, Colts Win.

Bucs @ Titans

How weird is this game? Jameis Winston & Marcus Mariota could likely be done as starters for their respective franchises. The 1st & 2nd overall pick from the 2015 NFL Draft have not come very far. With the Titans already having moved on from Marcus Mariota, they are now 1-0 in the “Tannehill Era” & after Sunday that should improve to 2-0! Although the Titans have not had a QB with a passer rating above 96.0, the Bucs are 0-3 this season when going up against QBs who started the season as backups (Teddy Bridgewater, Kyle Allen, Daniel Jones).

Score: 24-20, Titans Win.

Chargers @ Bears

This is great for both the Chargers & Bears as the football gods have blessed both teams with a bounce-back game. Unfortunately, only one of these teams comes out with a W & that’s the Bears. The Chargers have been an absolute mess this season. Starting off the year 2-5 already puts them behind in the wild playoff race & quite frankly, it’s going to take a lot of change for the Chargers to turn their season around. Unfortunately, halfway through the season things aren’t looking so good. After Sunday, I expect the Chargers to have 6 losses in their record & next week against Green Bay is not going to make things any easier. I expect them to bring their A-Game however, I’m not going to doubt Matt Nagy’s preparation. Expect the Bears to win at home behind their run game

Score: 27-26, Bears Win.

Saints @ Cardinals

The Cards are hot! After starting the season 0-3-1, the Cards have won 3 straight games since! Although that sounds great, the Saints are coming into the desert hotter. New Orleans has not lost since Teddy Bridgewater took over & quite frankly, even if Drew Brees (thumb) was to not return this week, the Saints are in fine hands. Since week 5, New Orleans has averaged 26.7 PPG along with a 61.5% redzone PCT. Something the Saints defense will need to keep their eye out for is Kyler Murray’s rushing ability. Murray has rushed for 2 scores this season & the Saints defense has allowed a league-high 4 rushing TDs to opposing QBs. Expect a close one with the Saints prevailing in the desert.

Score: 23-18, Saints Win.

Jets @ Jaguars

This is perhaps one of the tougher matchups to predict in the early window games. The Jets are coming off what I’d like to infamously call the “seeing ghosts” game. But then again, the Jets played the Patriots… I’ll cut them some slack. This week they play a Jags defense that hasn’t allowed more than 20 PTS to opponents in 4 of their 7 games. On top of that, this game really comes down to the running backs.

Fournette vs. Bell Stats

With the Jags’ Fournette clearly coming out on top, I expect the same in this matchup. The Jets have a lot of question marks as the Jags are coming off a dominant win against the Bengals. Ya it was a winless Bengals team however, I’m taking the team that has their confidence up with a QB that’s not seeing “ghosts”. Jags win their second straight as Jets lose their second straight.

Score: 23-20, Jaguars Win.

Giants @ Lions

This is your high scoring game of the week! It’s going to be a rushing attack against an aerial attack. With the Lions defense allowing the most scrimmage TDs (10) to opposing RBs, Saquon is going to go Saquon on this defense. On the contrary, the Giants defense secondary ranks bottom-10 in the league allowing 257 YPG. With the Lions pass attack ranked in the top-6 with 277.2 YPG, I see big games for Golladay & Jones. On top of that, with running back, Kerryon Johnson on injured reserve, the Lions will rely on Stafford’s arm. Lions keep their engines running in the Motor City!

Score: 37-29, Lions Win.

Eagles @ Bills

Okay Philly. This is when you are best. Underdogs. Yes the Bills are 5-1 this season & the Eagles are underdogs with a record of 3-4. Philly needs to figure out their secondary as they have allowed a WR to top a 100 YDS receiving in 6 of their 7 games this season. On the contrary the Eagles offense has struggled as a one-dimensional offense. It’s Wentz against the world as the Philly offense hasn’t seen a 100 YD rusher in 35 straight games dating back to 2017… Regardless, I expect Philly to prevail on the road.

Score: 29-24, Eagles Win

Seahawks @ Falcons

I’m calling an upset. Sure, I don’t have the best track record when it comes to picking the underdog in these matchups however, it’s tough for me to imagine a world in which the Falcons have 7 losses through the first 8 weeks of the season. With head coach Dan Quinn likely on the hot seat, he has the chance to beat his former squad once again. MVP Candidate, Russell Wilson has a 3-4 record against former Seahawk defensive coordinators. Expect a shootout in ATL as the Falcons have allowed 31.9 PPG this season as the Seahawks are on track to allow 25.1 PPG, their worst since 2010. On top of that, Julio has an avg. of 112.3 receiving YPG against the Hawks’ which is the most any player has against the Seahawks defense (min. 3 games). Expect a Falcons upset as the Hawks’ lose their second straight.

UPDATE: MATT RYAN HAS BEEN RULED OUT. MY GAME PICK WILL CHANGE TO THE SEAHAWKS

Score: 34-17, Seahawks Win.

International Game

Bengals “@” Rams

Oh please. The only thing interesting about this game is that it’s in London… The Bengals are expected to stay winless as a team allowing 189 rush YPG should simply does not deserve to win football games. On top of that, Bengals’ Andy Dalton has lost 10 consecutive starts! The Rams have their own issues with their run game as, Todd Gurley has failed to rush for over a 100 yards in 8 consecutive games. Fortunately, the Rams have a stellar defense with the addition of Jalen Ramsey. The only thing facing turbulence in London is going to be Andy Dalton’s aerial attack, not their flight home after a loss…

Score: 31-20, Rams Win.
