8 DEC 2019. 4:05 PM ET Game

Chargers @ Jagurs

I’m not going to mince words here. This matchup really proves to have no effect on playoff seeding. Both of these teams were among the top of the league a mere two seasons ago. This season they are playing for draft positioning. With Minshew Magic back in action in Duval, I’ll take a flight risk as the Chargers simply have not found a way to close out games this season.

Score: 27-21, Jaguars Win.

1 DEC 2019. 4:25 PM ET Game

Titans @ Raiders

We’ve got a good one in the Bay. The Raiders are coming off their second consecutive road loss. Having scored a combined 12 points in their two losses simply is not going to cut it against a Titan team led by Ryan Tannehill. The former Dolphin signal caller has led the Titans to a 5-1 record in his 6 starts. I expect this game to be a fight for possession time. That’s why I’m taking the Titans on the road as they simply have the better running back. A better run game means they can chew up that clock well enough to pick up the road W. Derek Carr is set to lose his first career game against the Titans.

Score: 30-17, Titans Win.

Chiefs @ Patriots

Why is this not in primetime? An AFC Championship rematch in Foxboro. Who wouldn’t want to tune in to this one?! The Chiefs offense is still red-hot under the reigning NFL MVP, Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs are averaging 29.0 PPG this season (3rd-most in the league) meanwhile the Patriots are allowing a mere 12.1 PPG (fewest in the league). Belichick knows what’s a stake in this matchup. Brady knows what’s at stake. The Patriots offense needs to start clicking & I see it happening on Sunday against a bottom 10 ranked Chiefs defense when it comes to total YDS allowed. However, don’t get deteriorated by this matchup as Patrick Mahomes is 2-0 against #1 ranked defenses (based on rank that week).

Does that change anything? NOPE! This AFC Championship rematch holds a result we have seen one too many times. A Patriot win. Do you seriously believe that the Patriots are going to lose two straight let alone lose at home? This team performs best under Tom Brady & Belichick when they are being questioned. Especially after a loss. This team does not play to prove to fans/critics that they are still contenders. They know it. They simply need to prove to themselves that they can in fact execute & notch their 19th straight home win against a formidable Chief team.

Score: 24-23, Patriots Win.

Steelers @ Cardinals

This Steeler squad has fight. This week they head to Arizona to take on the #1 overall pick. His QB matchup? Undrafted rookie, Devlin Hodges. This Super Bowl 43 rematch is going to end up in the same result. A Steeler victory. With a stout Steeler defense with Minkah Fitzpatrick lurking in the secondary, rookie Kyler Murray is bound to make a turnover or two. The Cardinals are 0-6 against teams above .500 & undrafted QBs are 3-0 against QBs picked #1 overall this season! It’s Steel City in the desert.

Score: 27-20, Steelers Win.

Sunday Night Football

Seahawks @ Rams

I’m going to do it. I’m going to go there. I’m giving the 49ers the top spot in the NFC West. It’s long overdue & they can thank their NFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Rams in handing the Seahawks their first road loss of the season on Sunday Night. Correct me if I’m wrong (I’m not), the Rams are the same team that represented the NFC in last seasons Super Bowl? Yes they were. They have the same talent. They have the same coaches. What’s the problem? Execution.

I know it sounds absurd, but I’m going to stay bold & stick with the Rams. Wilson’s 8 career losses to the Rams is the most he’s had against any opponent. On the contrary, Wilson in primetime games has posted a 105.1 passer rating (most by any QB since 2000 in primetime games). To add fuel to the fire, Rams’ Todd Gurley has found his fair share of success in the last 4 games against the Hawks’ racking up an avg. of 127.5 scrimmage YPG. Jared Goff is going to have to find a way to keep the Seahawk secondary on their feet & not get flustered by the pass rush. Fortunately for Goff & the Rams offensive line, the Seahawks could potentially be without defensive ends Ziggy Ansah (neck) & Jadeveon Clowney (core) (both game-day decisions). With or without them, the Seahawks bottom 4 secondary could prove to be a favorable matchup for Goff & his #1 Cooper Kupp who has failed to exceed 70+ receiving YDS in 4 straight games. Russell Wilson stays winless in Los Angeles!

Score: 27-23, Rams Win.

Monday Night Football

Eagles @ Giants

Thought you wouldn’t see him again? Well think again. Eli Manning is back & since I’m in the mood for upsets, here’s another one for you. The Giants beat the Eagles!

No, I’m sorry even that is not believable enough for me to be confident about… Although we all would love to see it, the Eagles have a very one-sided affair when going up against the Giants. Philly has won 9 of their last 10 games against New York, including 5 straight coming into Monday night’s matchup. With a win on Monday night, Philly will be in place to tie records with the Cowboys in the NFC East. Expect them to take advantage of this divisional matchup. As for Eli Manning, he has a record of 116-116. A loss on Monday night would put him just below .500 in his career. I hope this is certainly not the last time we see #10 calling plays this season for Big blue… till then, FLY EAGLES FLY!

Score: 28-24, Eagles Win.
